The tipster, from the USA, runs a YouTube account called Only Mechanic Tips.

He advises ramping your car up off the ground and delving in from below.

His short clip, shared online, talks through how to explore within the car and check which studs or other parts might be broken.

He tells how to check whether certain switches are working that a professional mechanic might have missed by physically pulling on sections to see if they move.

If the metalwork moves, it’s likely a stud is broken and will need to be repaired.

The video is titled: “Motor making ticking noise but the mechanic don’t hear it when in the shop. DO THIS.”

His YouTube channel describes itself as “dedicated to the DIY automotive mechanics and for those who would just like to see how professional technicians diagnose and repair cars”.

Drivers have also just been told about a handy trick to stop annoying rattling noises in your car which only costs £4.

Other recent motoring tips shared on YouTube include a £1 hack to get rid of dents from your car.

Motoring experts have also revealed hacks which can help save cash, such as when removing dents or scuffs as well as jet-washing.

Further value-for-money car advice posted online includes suggestions about potentially saving thousands on insurance.

And making canny use of number plates could also score you free cash from your car.
